Join us for the 2024 Leo and Betty Beckwith Lecture: American Artist, co-presented with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. American Artist makes thought experiments that mine the history of technology, race, and knowledge production, beginning with their legal name change in 2013.

SMFA Highlights
Sean Johnson, MFA '08, will present his latest exhibition, Burials, at Gravedigger’s Daughter Gallery in Waldoboro, ME, from October 5 to October 27. The gallery is owned by fellow SMFA alumna, Jen Barrows (MFA '10). The exhibition will culminate with a reception during Artwalk Waldoboro on October 25, from 4-8 pm.
Design • Book • Art, featuring artist books by 17 current students and alumni from the Graphic Arts Area, was recently reviewed in Cambridge Day. The exhibition, curated by Professor of the Practice Chantal Zakari, is on view until November 7 at Arts Collaborative Medford.
Maya Erdelyi-Perez, Lecturer in Animation, will premiere her film Anyuka at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, on Sunday, November 10, from 2:30-4:30 pm, followed by a reception at SMFA. The screening, held in the Remis Auditorium, is part of the 2024 Boston Jewish Film Festival. Additionally, Anyuka will be featured at the 2024 Santa Fe International Film Festival on October 18, at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
