SMFA Highlights

Professor of the Practice Kendall Reiss presented her ongoing research project BEING [with] TREES on Wednesday, February 14 for the College Art Association, Annual Conference. Chaired by Dr. Martina Tanga, the panel is on "Learning from Trees: Artists & Climate Solutions".

Katherine McCaffrey and Professor of the Practice Bonnie Donohue will host a discussion on Tuesday, February 20 at 7:00 pm about their current exhibition at Kingston Gallery: Killing Mapepe: Sex and Death in Cold War Vieques. This will be a hybrid event, where people can attend in-person at the gallery, while the event will also be available on Zoom. Register here to attend.


Alpha Massaquoi, a second-year MFA student at SMFA, will also give a gallery talk at Kingston Gallery—in person only—on Friday, February 16 at 6:30 pm.

Professor of the Practice Tanya Crane was recently announced as one of the 2024 USA Fellows. Join us in celebrating Tanya alongside this year’s 50 awardees, a group of artists and collectives working across the disciplines of Architecture & Design, Craft, Dance, Film, Media, Music, Theater & Performance, Traditional Arts, Visual Art, and Writing. 

Dinorá Justice: The Lay of the Land is on view at the MFA, Boston through April 14.

The exhibition by Traveling Fellow Dinorá Justice explores historical perceptions of femininity and the natural world across the artistic canon.
