SMFA Writing Consultations

ARC offers one-to-one appointments on the SMFA campus to discuss any writing project, from class assignments to artist statements and capstone projects. Our writing consultants are friendly, experienced, non-judgmental readers who can support you through any stage in your writing process: from brainstorming and organizing ideas to clarifying and polishing your work. We can also help you develop a research plan and incorporate sources. Our writing support is collaborative and conversation-based, and we believe every writer deserves a discerning, compassionate reader. ARC writing consultations are free for any undergraduate or graduate student at SMFA.

Appointment time slots are one hour long. To make an appointment, log in to SIS and choose “Tutor Finder” from the drop-down Academic menu. Then choose the type of project and appointment time that works for you.

Time Management and Study Strategies Consultations

ARC offers one-to-one appointments on the SMFA campus to create more effective strategies and solutions for learning and life balance based on your style and needs. You can collaborate with a consultant on the topics that interest you: planning (designing routines, scheduling a busy week, breaking big projects into smaller tasks), learning strategies (reading and skimming, note taking, studying, test taking, and test anxiety strategies), and well-being (life balance, relaxation, motivation/procrastination, perfectionism, prioritization). Your TM&SS consultant cheers and encourages you as you make change in your life. These sessions are one hour long and available free to any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at SMFA.

Find more information about the program or request a consultant on the ARC site.
