As a first-year student in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program, the Fenway campus will be your home base for your coursework in studio and the liberal arts.
We believe that academic immersion on one campus for the first year allows you to focus on your studies, orient yourself to the studio and academic curricula that are core to your BFA experience, and adjust to life in college. Although you will be based on the Fenway campus for your coursework and residential life, you will be encouraged to engage in the wealth of extra-curricular activities and services afforded to all Tufts undergraduate students on the Medford campus.
In your first semester, you will typically take 2 credits of studio coursework: Introduction to Visual and Critical Studies and English 1. In the second semester, you will take 3 credits of studio coursework and English 2.
When choosing your first-year studio coursework, you are encouraged to focus on exploration and experimentation. First-year students are encouraged to select courses in media and techniques they have not previously had access to.
