Event Details

The Boston National Portfolio Day will take place from 12:00-4:00pm (ET) at the Hynes Convention Center (Exhibit Hall D) in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Accessibility information for the Hynes Convention Center is available here.

National Portfolio Days provide an opportunity for you to meet with representatives from top colleges and universities and receive valuable feedback and guidance on your portfolio before you submit it as part of your application. When you visit SMFA’s booth, you’ll leave with portfolio feedback and an idea of how you and your art practice will fit into our unique program.

Parents, teachers, and guidance counselors of high school and college transfer students are also encouraged to attend this event to ask questions and learn more about pathways available to your students. This is an educational event; no admissions decisions or scholarship awards will be offered.

Due to the high attendance at National Portfolio Day events, portfolio reviews typically last about 15 minutes. To make the most of your time with admissions representatives, we recommend preparing a portfolio of 10-20 pieces that includes the work you’ve made in the last 2 years that you are most excited to share – no restrictions on medium or subject matter. You may bring original work or digital documentation on your own device, as Wi -Fi will be available.

Event Guidelines

Facial coverings are optional at the Hynes Convention Center. Masks are still recommended for people at high risk for serious illness.

The Hynes is conveniently located just minutes away from Boston’s major highways and is easily accessible from Boston’s Logan Airport and many public transit routes.
