Memories of the Heir

What does caring for a sick person do to one's identity and ambitions within a long-term context? How does trauma get inherited from past generations? Where is its manifestation? When will this resolve for future generations? Is anxiety the fault of our ancestors? Kathryn asks herself these questions, and ones like it, every day. Her practice expresses how the body is treated as a commodity. She is influenced by her observation of illness and the reactionary participation in the mandatory socioeconomic discourse of the healthcare industry. Having witnessed medical traumas and institutional settings shape her family's legacy, Kathryn articulates her experience through a curation of painting, sculpture, paper, text, found objects, and collected items.
