Paulina MacNeil
I work in video, sculpture, photography, and sound, to intersect subjects of science fiction, psychoanalysis, and the internet. I previously completed a BFA in photography and a BA in art history at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. My current project demonstrates the tension between the virtual and physical worlds.
I am interested in cultivating a new space that exists between these two worlds through a broader consideration of the human senses. Through conjoining playful colors and textures against expressions of alienation and malaise, I seek to address a desire for care within crisis. In my videos, dream worlds and wandering narratives contend for the value of human resting states and engagement in fantasy. I believe that in a society where the real can be virtual, it is valuable to expand upon the possibilities of what individuals can access and provide to one another.
