The Digital Photography Lab, or D-Lab, is a specialized lab dedicated to exhibition-quality digital printing. Students access these facilities through digital photography classes, or with the permission of a faculty member or the Studio Manager. Mac Pro workstations with color-calibrated displays are available to make prints using our Epson Stylus Pro 3880 and 4900 printers, Epson Surecolor p800 inkjet printers, and 44” Epson Surecolor P9000 printer. You may print on any inkjet-coated paper you prefer. A daylight-balanced viewing area is located just outside of the P9000 room, where you can fine-tune the color balance of your prints.

They lived outside the arts world, but created works—now on view at Tufts—that are standing the test of time

Provocatively posed and rendered in mud, Lady Liberty greets visitors near the entrance of Expressions Unbound: American Outsider Art from the Andrew and Linda Safran Collection, on display at the Tufts University Art Gallery through December 16. The earthen tones and curvaceous figure of Jimmy Lee Sudduth’s Statue of Liberty lend a cheerfully brazen sensuality not typically associated with the national monument.

A longtime teacher at the SMFA, her paintings and photography were about looking for the unseen

Traveling anywhere in a car with painter and photographer Julie Graham meant stopping “all the time, so she could leap out and take photographs,” recalled sculptor Mags Harries, her friend and colleague from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts. “She loved color, layered surfaces, scavenged juxtapositions, vernacular architecture, the collision of architectural spaces. With Julie, it was always about looking for the unseen.”

If there was an unexpected flair to how Tyler Whitaker translated the word “Tufts” onto a piece of pocket-shaped paper, it was entirely fitting. After all, he’d just spent three days in the Arts@Tufts pre-orientation program for incoming first-year students and transfers during the last week of August.

Using the university’s libraries, the Bridging Differences initiative encourages learning about the political, social, and cultural issues that divide our society

If you are walking toward the Tower Café in Tisch Library this semester, you’ll notice a couple of big signs on the wall and a reading alcove with chairs and books. It’s one of the first projects of Bridging Differences, an initiative led by the university’s chief diversity officers, Rob Mack and Joyce Sackey.
