Continuing Education classes and workshops at SMFA are designed for people at the beginning, middle, or advanced stages of their artistic exploration. We encourage the diversity of artistic and professional experiences of the students in our program.

Certificate programs in Graphic Design and Illustration provide credentials that represent proficiency and skill, leading toward a career in either graphic design or illustration. The Studio Diploma program is 100% studio-based and offers a rare opportunity to combine a traditional approach to art with 21st century skills in technology, communication, and global awareness.

High School Programs

SMFA at Tufts provides incredible opportunities for high school students throughout the year.

Our City Studio Program is a free, after-school studio art program open to Boston Public Schools students during the fall and spring semesters.

The Pre-College Summer Intensive in Studio Art develops young artists’ foundational skills and exposes them to new technologies and conceptual frameworks for approaching art with a focus on portfolio development.
