Adam "Legs" Cowell

Adam Cowell, known by those who matter as Legs, is a visual artist from California. Boston is where he found inspiration in the world of skateboarding. For in this crusty metropolis with unrelenting winters, skateboarders are forced to become incredibly resourceful and creative, or quit and be forgotten. An admissions essay dedicated to his love of sandwiches landed him a spot at SMFA where the "choose your own adventure" style of learning allowed him to find the metal shop and get to work. Legs has since been a fabricator on multi-million dollar projects for well-known artists, and returned to the Welding Studio as Manager in 2013. His role at SMFA is to facilitate experimentation and learning by slowly building up a student's tolerance to failure until they become immune to the fear of it.
