Caleb Davis
Caleb Davis grew up in Virginia where he honed his art making skills at Virginia Commonwealth University. He moved to Boston to pursue a career as a public high school art teacher, but found it necessary to supplement the less than commensurate teachers' pay with secondary careers such as department store manager, bartender, restaurant manager. He eventually succumbed to his entrepreneurial nature and opened his own restaurant – then another – and finally a fitness center in Boston's Back Bay. After 30 years as a business man, he sold his corporate interests and decided to go back to higher education, this time as an administrator. Caleb has worked at Tufts University ever since and for the past three years as the Administrative Director of the SMFA.
All through his adult life, Caleb has continued to make art work – primarily drawing, painting, and collage. He has had a number of solo shows as well as group ones. He is particularly proud of the years of collaboration with his daughter, Amber Tourlentes, and their work has been exhibited in several galleries in New England.
