Janet Sartor has a background and years of experience in arts and higher education administration. She earned a BFA, with a specialization in metals, and a MA in Italian Literature at the University of Oregon, as well as spending a year in Florence, Italy, studying art conservation at Palazzo Spinelli. As a compulsive maker, she continues to work with metals, gems and fibers whenever she can find time outside of work to create; she also enjoys reading and creative writing as time allows. Having worked at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Harvard Art Museums and Lesley University College of Art and Design, before coming to the SMFA, she has put her education and passions to good use as an administrator in support of the arts.
