Joel Frenzer

Joel Frenzer is a multimedia artist, animator, filmmaker, podcaster, voice-actor, and puppeteer. His recent work highlights the power of humor/art hybrids as coping mechanisms. Boredcardboard, a series of videos devoted to crafting with cardboard, is a reaction to the brain-drain, eye-strain of Zoom during the COVID lockdown. His 2021 web series, Nonnie, Raccoon, & Bear, chronicles a comedic collaboration with his mother in the face of her advancing Alzheimer’s disease.  In early 2025, the asinine and criminal actions of Elon Musk birthed the series Yo Elon, It’s Your Boy Y!, which portrays Frenzer as a fictional devotee who mocks Musk through sardonic praise. Frenzer’s new web series, Cardboard Cosplay with Raccoon & Bear, is a tool for processing recent family displacement, set for launch in Fall 2026. Frenzer is a Professor of the Practice in Media Arts at SMFA at Tufts University specializing in Animation and Special Effects.
