Pinochet Porn / Lia Gangitano

Pinochet Porn is a complex, epic film which traces the
psychic life of General Augusto Pinochet’s regime in Chile
through the lives of five children and their maturation into
adulthood. Produced using Super 8mm, archival footage,
and animated drawings, Pinochet Porn is an extensive and
experimental project of the late artist Ellen Cantor that
takes the form of a soap opera, at once tragic and comical
and marked by a subversive sexuality.

Lia Gangitano is the Founding Director of PARTICIPANT
INC., a not-for-profit alternative art space that acts a venue
for artists, curators, and writers to develop ambitious
projects. She was the curator of Thread Waxing Space, NY,
and an associate curator at the Institute of Contemporary
Art, Boston.
