Season Kick-off at City Winery

An exciting season of SMFA at Tufts events kicks off at City Winery! Mix it up with alumni, faculty, and friends at one of Boston’s hottest new event spaces. Indulge your senses with exceptional food, wines, and craft beers from across the globe, paired with provocative performance art curated by SMFA Professor of the Practice Danielle Abrams.

Welcome Back at Pace Prints, New York City

Join Dean Nancy Bauer at Pace Prints for an update on the SMFA and Tufts’ commitment to investing in the arts. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes chat with Milly Glimcher and Richard Solomon, president of Pace Gallery, on Welcome Back, a mini-retrospective by a number of artists whose editions were among Pace Prints’ first publications.

A Medici Guide to the 2018 Boston Art Book Fair

From zines and monographs to radio waves, let Medici guide you through all the ways artist books are coming to Boston this October.

Friday, October 12–The Boston Center for the Arts welcomes SMFA Medici for an exciting preview of the Boston Artist Book Fair at the Cyclorama (539 Tremont Street). Medici members receive an exclusive discount on tickets for the evening and VIP perks like a limited-edition artwork, tote bag, and highlight tours! Use the code MEDICI when purchasing tickets here.

Saturday, October 13–SMFA alum Sephora Bergiste, BFA ’17, leads a workshop at the Boston Artist Book Fair on conservation and artist book enclosures. Bring an artist book from your own collection for Sephora’s recommendations or perhaps commission a bespoke case! Admission to the Fair is FREE on October 13 and 14 with events taking place all weekend. 

Tuesday, October 16–Join our Listening Party! Artists-in-residence Wavefarm will be broadcasting an on-site performance by Amy Fusselman from her ground-breaking new book, Idiophone. Enjoy in person at noon at SMFA, or stream it live using the Wavefarm app WGXC 90.7.

Saturday, October 20–On the Medford/Somerville campus, SMFA and Tisch libraries present Bologna-based book artist Angela Lorenz for a panel discussion, Victorious Secret: Women Athletes in Ancient and Modern Times.

SMFA Art Sale Medici Night

An Evening with Sheila Pepe, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum

NYC VIP Medici Tour of the Armory and New Art Dealers Alliance Art Fairs

Traveling Fellows Reception

April 24, 2019

Celebrate the winner of this year’s Traveling Fellows solo exhibition, Georgie Friedman (MFA ’08), at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Join the artist and MFA’s Friends of Photography Curator Circle for an inside glimpse into Georgie’s process and travel to Antarctica. Cocktail reception to follow.
