Peter Scott

Peter Scott received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University, and BA from Haverford College.

Peter has exhibited at Gallery NAGA in Boston, the Chandler Gallery at Maud Morgan Arts in Cambridge, the Aidekman Art Center and Grossman Gallery at Tufts, the Johannesburg Art Gallery, the Boston Athenaeum, the Boston Public Library, St. Botolph Club, Boston Printmakers Print Biennial, Southern Graphics Council International Conference, and Centrum voor Grafiek Frans Masereel in Belgium.

Scott has been guest artist and lecturer at Artist Proof Studio, Johannesburg, and at the Durban Institute of Technology, Durban (2019, 2012 & 2005). He was the recipient of an Artist's Fellowship and Faculty Enrichment Grant for a residency at the Vermont Studio Center (2019 & 2008).

He has also participated in residencies at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica, Venice, Franz Masereel Centrum, Belgium, guest lecturer at the Machida Museum, Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, Tokyo, and at Seika University, Kyoto (1996), and artist-in-residence and curator, Johannesburg Biennale, South Africa (1995).

His work is in the collections of the Boston Public Library, the Boston Athenaeum, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the New York Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and The Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Antwerp.

In 2023, Peter Scott retired from teaching at SMFA at Tufts and was awarded the title of Emeritus by the Tufts Board of Trustees.
