Interconnections and Symbiotic Relationships Found within Environment, Humanity, and Technology Through Visual Language

How do we decipher what we see in today’s world? Visual cues such as codes and patterns teach and disrupt our understanding of what we see. Similar to DNA information is carried within these visual cues defining new forms in both the digital and physical space. Repetition of information creates three specific dualities, which this work explores: truth / fiction; visible / invisible; and digital / physical. As I traverse the digital and physical, space ripples form through repetition. It is how these ripples affect our understanding of the visual I am questioning.

As I record my travels through physical space, the rippling of lines and patterns within the space become heightened. The patterns create a mesmerizing movement, which I then throw into question by physically changing the code creating a disruption in the ripple. The “glitch” questions the understanding of the physical space creating uncertainty of our ability to decipher visual indicators in front of us. The glitch brings reality back into light and shows the hidden realm of code highlighting the ripples found in the symbiotic relationship between the physical and digital.
