Ponderous Things in Our Mind

Artist statement

My art is driven by my interests in nature and the experience and perceptions of self. I work primarily in painting, sculpture, and installation.

The inspiration for my thesis project comes from the mundane and often overlooked experiences of daily life. As we walk down the street, many thoughts sweep over our heads. The future is unknown and unknowable. An unexpected event can strike at any moment. External circumstances are a source of anxiety, but most of our fears are driven by our own internal thoughts. While many reasons for our worrying are real concerns, others are often entirely fictional. This installation work explores these perennial pressures in our minds, however real or fictional.
