PT Lecturer

Michael MacMahon is originally from Ireland and now resides in the United States. He has shown work both nationally and internationally. He was recently awarded Boston's Dana Pond award for painting and maintains a rigorous studio practice. His paintings explore a diverse group set of subjects not limited to but including artistic and political history, methods of mass communication and explorations in color theory.

Gerri Rachins is an American artist, living and working in Boston, Massachusetts. She received a Master of Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and also studied at The New York Studio School, in New York.

Ethan Haynes

PT Lecturer

Ethan Haynes is a Tufts/SMFA alumnus who has taught at the SMFA and The Eliot School in Jamaica Plain. His work ranges from fine art to illustration/design, including magazine illustration, album art, cards, restaurant signage, and even a coloring book. He has taught Figure Drawing Intensive at The Elliot School, and at the SMFA he has taught Intermediate Illustration and Drawing for Illustrators & Narrative Realists, as well as co-teaching Portfolio Prep and Introduction to Illustration for several years with Glenna Lang, and Intermediate To Advanced Figure Drawing with Bill Flynn.

Dan OConnor

Dan O’Connor is a graduate of the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, where he received his MFA in Photography. He is an interdisciplinary artist who uses sculpture, performance, and found objects to create environmental narratives, that are ultimately represented in photographs.

Heidi Whitman

PT Lecturer

Heidi Whitman's paintings, drawings, and paper constructions are both imagined terrains and mental maps. Maps of ancient ruins and contemporary city grids are primary references in her work. 

Maya Erdelyi-Perez

PT Lecturer

Maya Erdelyi is a NYC and LA based animator, director, and artist. She creates intricate hand-made animations and collages inspired by imaginary worlds, memories, and the unconscious. Shown in various national and international film festivals, galleries and museums, her award-winning animations utilize a hybrid experimental approach to cut-paper stop-motion, puppetry, hand-drawn, and computer animation processes. Maya is a 2012 MFA graduate in Experimental Animation from CalArts, and is represented by 6PointMedia, a Hollywood Animation Studio.

Mela Lyman

PT Lecturer

Mela Lyman (drawing) has had work in more than 40 exhibitions in museums and galleries nationally and has been reviewed in ARTFORUM, Art New England, and New Art Examiner, among other magazines and newspapers. She received a Diploma from the Museum School ('78) and a BFA from the Museum School/Tufts University ('79). She has won numerous awards from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts and the Artists Foundation, Massachusetts. Public arts commissions include: Simpkin Swim Center, County of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz, Calif.

Sue Yang

PT Lecturer

Sue is from Taiwan and came to the US for graduate school.

She received two masters from Ohio State University and SMFA/Tufts.

Sue is a contemporary artist inspired by Asian culture. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and received numerous awards. Her work speaks "life transformation" and tends to incorporate many different forms of media. Sue won the SMFA Traveling Fellowship in 2011. Her latest Solo show was at Andre Zarre gallery, Charles New York, February–March, 2014.
