Graphic Arts Annual
This juried exhibition highlights student work from the graphic arts area.

Graduate Program First Year Shows
During the month of March, first-year students in the MFA program mount week-long exhibitions at the Mission Hill Gallery.
Graduate Students Curate Students
In this annual show, graduate students curate an exhibition of SMFA student work.
Graduate Thesis Exhibitions
The MFA program concludes with a public exhibition at Aidekman Arts Center on the Medford/Somerville Campus.
Senior Thesis Exhibition
The Senior Thesis program culminates with a public exhibition in SMFA's Anderson and Grossman Galleries.
Year End Show
The annual Year End Show is an opportunity for all graduating students to exhibit at least one work.
Every fall, students can submit work to the Art Sale. Proceeds from the Art Sale are split 50/50 between the artists and the school.
Media Arts Annual
A screening at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston of student work curated by an outside jury.
MFA Thesis Screening
This screening is an opportunity for MFA students whose thesis work involves moving image including video, animation, and non-lens based digital moving image work.
Bi-Annual SMFA Student Exhibition
This biannual exhibition features a selection of works by promising MFA and BFA students at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. Organized by the Department of Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for the Edward H. Linde Gallery (168), the exhibition is realized with the assistance of graduate students in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture at Tufts. This is just one of a series of programs that reflect the museum's commitment to the next generation of young artists and curators and continues the historic relationship between the two institutions, which dates back to SMFA's founding in 1876.
Bi-Annual Traveling Fellows SMFA Alumni Exhibition
Every other year in the fall, the MFA Boston is pleased to present an exhibition featuring the work of a SMFA alum and recipient of the Traveling Fellowship that reflects the impact of the artist's travels on their work. The artist selected for the exhibition is chosen from the 20 recipients from the previous two years.
Graduate Student Exhibition at Sanctuary West Medford
Each year MFA students exhibit work at Sanctuary West Medford.
PRINTFEST is a three-day fair hosted by IPCNY (International Print Center NY) for MFA and senior BFA students to exhibit, sell, and trade their prints during New York's annual Print Week. SMFA participates in this event along with other leading universities and art schools. The universities' booths are complemented by workshops and demos, as well as a panel discussion with artists and art professionals about career paths to pursue after art school.
Boston Art Book Fair
SMFA graphic arts faculty, current students, and alums participate in this fair that includes one of a kind artist books, limited editions, zines, academic publications, and antiquarian collections.
National Collegiate Handmade Paper Art Triennial
Selected students are asked to apply for this competitive national exhibition, juried by prominent artists in the field. Accepted student work travels to museums and art venues across the country for one year.
Boston Printmakers Student Print Exhibition
This is a competitive annual show of approximately 100 student prints from 17 colleges and universities in New England. Selections are juried by a panel of non-teaching members of The Boston Printmakers Board. Exhibition venues have included Lesley University and Framingham State College.
