Health & Wellness
Tufts has a diverse team of healthcare professionals who are passionate about providing comprehensive and integrative health and wellness care to help all undergraduate and graduate students enhance and maintain their physical, social, and emotional health.
We offer free, respectful, and confidential primary medical care, mental health care, preventive services and health promotion to help our diverse student population achieve their goals inside and outside the classroom.
Boston SMFA Campus and Fenway Area
Tufts has partnered with Harvard Vanguard-Atrius Health to provide health care services on the SMFA campus. Should you need health services in the Fenway area, go to the Harvard Vanguard website to make an appointment. You must make an appointment in advanced, unless it is a life-threatening emergency.*
SMFA students who would like to go to Harvard Vanguard must have a Health Insurance card to be seen there. If you have any questions about accessing your card, please go to the health insurance website and check the tab entitled "Electronic ID Cards."
*In the case of an emergency, please call 911 or your local emergency access number.
If you are on the Medford campus and need medical attention, go to Health Service at 124 Professors Row and/or call 617-627-3350.
Counseling and Mental Health Services
Counseling and Mental Health Services can help address a range of life challenges and difficulties. Counseling Services at SMFA includes free, on-site, confidential mental health care for SMFA at Tufts students. Services include evaluations, referrals to outpatient providers, short-term counseling, and wellness programming for undergraduate and graduate students.
SMFA students have free access to the athletic facilities at Tufts University on the Medford/Somerville campus, including the Steve Tisch Sports and Fitness Center/Cousens Complex and use of the indoor Hamilton Pool.
In addition, many fitness centers in the Fenway area offer SMFA students a membership discount. If you have questions or need assistance on non-Tufts gym plans, please contact the SMFA Office of Student Affairs.
